Hatching by hand on an iPad takes a long time. Two of these three free brushes from Manero Brushes paint a whole row of parallel hatch lines in one stroke, and the third is a clean inker for outlines.

Building tone with hatching
Use one direction for light shadow, add a second direction across it for mid-tones, and a third only in the darkest areas. Keeping the brush at the same angle in each pass is what makes hatching look clean.
