Aurora is hard to paint with a normal soft brush: it ends up as a blurry smear. These ten brushes from background painter Devin Elle Kurtz draw the ribbon-like bands and the vertical streaks of light that make the northern lights look like curtains.
The set is free on the author's Gumroad page, with Procreate, Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint versions. Brusher does not host it.
Ten aurora brushes
Northern Lights 1–8 are soft, uneven bands of glow with slightly different widths and textures. Northern Lights 9 and 10 add the fine vertical streaks you see at the lower edge of a real aurora.

How to paint an aurora night sky
Start with a dark blue-to-black gradient. Paint one long band in green with a soft brush from the set, set the layer to Add or Glow, then sweep a streaky brush along its lower edge. A thin second band in pink or violet above it, and a few stars, finish the sky.
