Pixel art is awkward in Procreate because its brushes are built to be smooth. This free mini set from Manero Brushes fixes the two basics: a 1-pixel brush that stays as close to pixel-perfect as Procreate's engine allows, and two dithering brushes for shading the way pixel artists do.
It also ships with a 14-page quick guide in English and Spanish on setting up a pixel art canvas in Procreate. The files come from the author's Gumroad store — we do not host them.
What the brushes do
- 1 Pixel Size — Almost Pixel-perfect: one hard pixel per touch, for outlines and clean sprite shapes.
- Pixel Dithering 1: a fine checkerboard dither for soft gradients.
- Pixel Dithering 2: a sparser dither pattern for lighter shading and texture.

Why dithering matters
With a limited palette there is no blending, so pixel artists fake in-between tones by alternating two colours in a pattern. Painting that pattern by hand pixel by pixel is slow; a dithering brush lays it down in one stroke and keeps the grid even.
Draw on a small canvas — think in tens or hundreds of pixels, not thousands — and scale up only when you export, otherwise the 1px brush has nothing to snap to.
