Haze Long is known for watercolor illustration that looks convincingly wet, and this free V2 set is the author's own toolkit cut down to the essentials: a liner, a few washes that behave differently at the edges, the classic salt and splatter effects, and paper grain to finish.
You download it from Haze Long's Gumroad page — we do not host the file. Everything listed below comes from the brushset itself.
What each brush is for
- Well Behaved Liner — controlled line work under or over the washes
- Solid Coloring Brush and Superstar Brush — flat, even colour blocks
- Blending Wash, Superstar Wash, Bleeding Wash — three kinds of wet edge, from soft to blooming
- Salt, Splatter, Eraser & White Bloom — texture accidents you would get on real paper
- Soft Water Smudge — pulls colour around like a damp brush
- Coarse and Fine Paper Texture — grain over the finished piece

Getting the real-watercolor look
Lay the main shapes with a wash, let the Bleeding Wash soften one or two edges only, and add Salt sparingly in the darkest areas. A pass of paper texture on a multiply layer at the end ties everything together.
