Painting a city by hand means hundreds of windows. Background painter Devin Elle Kurtz built this free set to speed up exactly that: rows and grids of windows, skyline silhouettes, distant lights for night scenes, brick walls, railings and fire escapes.
It downloads from the author's Gumroad page as nine Procreate brushsets, with Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint versions in the same order. Brusher does not host the files.
What the nine brushsets cover
- Window Brushes PLAIN (38) and DETAILS (11) — window rows, columns, skyscraper grids and dimensional windows
- Window Stamps (7) — whole apartment fronts in one tap
- Far buildings (9), City Silhouette (5) and City noise (7) — the distant layers of a skyline
- Distant Lights (7) — scattered and blocky lights for night cities
- Bricks (12) — brick columns, wall patterns, tiles
- Railings, Pipes etc. (16) — railings, balconies, fire escapes, fences, chain-link and a bridge

Building a city from back to front
Start with the silhouette and city-noise brushes for the far skyline in a colour close to the sky. Add far buildings, then mid-range buildings with window brushes on top. Finish the foreground with bricks and railings — and for a night scene, sprinkle distant lights across the far layers.
